Negotiations for salary increases may be grounded both on expected inflation and on past inflation. Both forms may even be used complementarily to fix salary adjustments, as explained by Director of Facio & Cañas’ Labor Department, Luis Sánchez, to La República newspaper.
The expert was consulted for the Investor’s Section, in its edition of March 1st, 2010. “Whenever an employee is paid a salary equal to or above the minimum established for the category, he may opt for the system of increases most convenient to the parties of the labor relationship,” stated Sánchez.
